Dragons Reserves sail through County Cup opener

The reserves beat Hillingdon 3rds 5-1 away in the MCFA County Cup.

For the first time this season the Dragons arrived for a game with strength in depth. With a great mix of youth and experience confidence was high and they settled into this cup tie nicely looking dangerous from the off. After 15 minutes of looking dangerous they took the lead. Justas Krisciunas, outstanding in the first half,  scored his 3rd of the season after closing down the nervy Hillingdon goalie. The keeper tried to Cruyff turn but the winger read it and nicked the ball to make the score 1-0. Fullbacks Jack Lyons and Hassan Osman were now taking turns in galavanting down the opposite wings, the latter linking up well with Billy Maxwell down the left.  5 minutes later it was 2-0 with Maxwell bamboozling swarths of defenders and found the perfect finish.  He then created the 3rd, smashing a deep cross for player/manager Jon Laycock to chest down and prod home. The second half started a little quietly but an error gave Hillingdon a spark of life at 3-1. However this supposed ignition was quickly extinguished by Adam Finch. Firstly finishing a good direct team move again involving Maxwell and then made it a brace with a stunning curled finish after Laycock cut the ball back. There was just time for a brilliant penalty save too from Ramsay McCulloch, again filling in between the sticks as the new keeper retired hurt. FT 1-5 and a promising cup run awaits.
