We have battled through varied vicissitudes to arrive at the Christmas break in fine fettle, eager to move forward in the New Year. Thanks must go to all our officers, coaches, managers, trustees, parents, players, supporters and partners who have worked together so well to provide training and football matches for local young people out in the healthy, fresh, if somewhat bracing, air to the benefit of all. Indeed, there is a certain foolhardy charm in being on Wormwood Scrubs on a freezing December morning in the relentless rain with the wind howling, and the referee refusing to acknowledge a clear offside – if that does not breed resilience then little would! All in all, It has been a great deal of fun whilst we all look forward to the sunlight uplands of spring. The losses have been “character building” whilst the wins satisfying – as in life.
