The Dragons mostly withstood Storm Amy and piled on the goals in some cases:
The Firsts narrowly lost 1-2 away to Wood Lane. This derb was a close, hard-fought game made harder by the extremely strong winds. The Dragons fought until the last whistle and had chances not just to draw level but even to clinch a win.
The Blues just lost to Feltham Town 1-2 away in the MCFA Junior Cup. In the same predicament as the Firsts, the Blues had to fight extremely blustery conditions. They dug deep but couldn’t find a way through.
The Old Dragonians soundly beat Kodak 15-0 at home in the MCFA Sunday Junior Cup. Bouncing back from their loss last week, the Old Ds made sure they didn’t crash out of another cup. They did not just make sure – they made certain. A huge score and back to their winning ways.
The U16 Girls beat Limehouse Laces 4-0 away. A true test for the Dragons: a sub-par pitch and an acute cross wind made for extremely challenging conditions. The Dragons braved both to put in a thoroughly professional performance. They were patient against a very disciplined Limehouse defence but eventually got the right result.
The U15 Girls lost at home to Brent Schools. A difficult game for the Dragons who, on the positive side, found the back of their opponents net twice. Strong winds made the game more difficult than it should have been.
The U13 Girls beat Actonians 4-0 away. Following their disappointing loss last week in the final minutes, the Dragons looked to bounce back and respond – and respond they did. With a full squad it was an outstanding team performance and the Dragons were convincing winners.
The U11 Girls had no game.
The New U10 Boys beat Hanwell Town 5–2 at home. This was a physical game but the Dragons kept their heads up, stayed composed, and worked hard right to the end to secure the result. The standard of play was remarkable when one considers that this was only the Dragons’ second game together – they moved the ball impressively and showed great teamwork throughout.
The U11 Boys drew 2-2 with Pro FA Youth at home. The Dragons showed determination, fight, and team spirit to give it their all from start to finish. They were unlucky not to win, coming away with a draw still says a lot: a high quality match from both sides so early in the season.
The U12 Boys beat Northfields United 5-3 away. The Dragons came out firing from the very first whistle and quickly found their rhythm, taking control of the game early on. Within minutes they took the lead and their confidence grew – shortly after, they doubled their advantage with another fantastic finish to make it 2–0. Northfields, not to be beaten before half time, took the opportunity to score 2 great goals of their own. The Dragons took the half time break to reset and looked to finish the game off with another 3 goals. Determined not to go down without a fight, Northfields got another back but it was the Dragons who held their nerve to take the points.
The U13 Boys lost to LNER 1-3 away. You could say this result was the product of the Dragons being a victim of their own success after being promoted to a more difficult league. It serves as a wake-up call to the young Dragons, but there is no panic in the camp with one win and one loss so far in the campaign.
The U14 Boys Red drew 3-3 to European Football Academy at home. A good, competitive game from the Dragons who played well against EFA who will definitely be among the ones to beat this season. The good news is that after three games so far, the Dragons have outscored them and have a strong GD.
The U14 Boys White beat Hanwell Town 9-2 away. Another great win for the Dragons who are starting to stake their claim early on as title contenders. They will no doubt keep their feet on the ground and work hard to maintain their current form – and top spot.
The U15 Boys drew 1-1 to Pinnstars away. The Dragons played well and were frustrated not to come away with all the points. The home referee was a shocker and extended the match to allow Pinnstars the time to score their ill deserved winner.
The U16 Boys beat Pinner United 10-1 at home. Pinner had not recovered from their sound beating the previous week and so were unfortunate to meet a Dragons side that is nearing the top of its game. The Dragons were clearly the better team and the only criticism one could level at them was that they showed signs of complacency at times and fiddled around too much with the ball – such tactics will not work against the better teams.
The U17 Boys lost at home to RC Lens. The Dragons put up a real battle against RC Lens but unfortunately came up second best. It was not from lack of desire however, as the Dragons played hard to the final whistle.
