We carry on relentlessly – winning more than we lose. Our next challenge is to provide changing rooms, shelter, refreshments, and WCs. Our parents particularly all deserve gold medals for supporting their proteges in the recent wet, windy, dismal weather on these dark evenings. We are working behind the scenes to improve the situation so please hang on in there! We may install a temporary clubhouse to keep us going. For our newer members here is the vision: Dragons Film
The Firsts beat Jolof Sports 6-3 away. East met West in a testing contest that the Dragons left as victors. They were again the better team, even after making mistakes that led to all the Jolof goals. Ultimately the Dragons’ character shone through to secure a deserved win aided by quality strikes from outside the box.
The Blues beat Old Isleworthians 5-1 at home. A solid result at the Den that keeps the Blues chasing down league leaders FH Whistlers. The Dragons were disappointed to concede at all – however with a better goal difference by some way they hope it will not come down to margins as fine as these.
The Old Dragonians away game to CB Hounslow & Abbots was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The U16 Girls beat Enfield Town 7-0 away in the Quarter Final of the Middlesex Cup. The Dragons completely dominated in this mud bath in Enfield. It was home after to clean boots and hot wash kits in preparation for the Semi Final.
The U15 Girls beat Alexandra Park 3-1 away. Facing AP for a second weekend in a row, the Dragons may have been forgiven for fatigue. They did the exact opposite, and, while AP showed more spirit and fight, the Dragons overwhelmed them for a third time this season with a dominant display.
The U13 Girls home game to Impact FC was called off due to the playing conditions.
The new U11 Girls trained in preparation to start the League.
The new U10 Boys lost 1-3 at home to Northfields. A very challenging game where the Dragons had to work hard throughout. They enacted some strong attacking moves and displayed excellent tackling but sadly came away with their first loss – on the plus side it was character building.
The U11 Boys beat Kick Ups 2-1 at home. The Dragons won a hard-fought, close physical game at St Mark’s Park, showing grit to keep their heads up when they conceded. They held their nerve through a tense end to the match showing yet another element to their footballing armoury.
The U12 Boys beat Foxes 4-1 away. Foxes pressed fiercely from the start as the Dragons struggled to find a rhythm, ending the first half goalless. The second burst into life with pace, chances, and growing tension. As tempers flared, two Foxes players were sent off in quick succession for lashing out. The Dragons finally broke through only for Foxes to incredibly strike back. The Dragons roared into life in the final 15 minutes with three late goals, including a thunderous penalty, to seal the victory.
The U13 Boys beat Pro FA 2-1 at home. The Dragons once again proved resilient after conceding an equaliser against the run of play. It took a long time but the winner was found through a late penalty.
The U14 Boys Red lost to Spartans 1-3 at home. The Dragons are in the hunt for a top two finish and this loss was not helpful.
The U14 Boys White beat Northfields United 5-0 at home. A resounding win at home for the Dragons with a clean sheet being the footballing cherry on top to wrap up a positive weekend
The U15 Boys did not play.
The U16 Boys beat Princes Park 3-1 at home. This was a closely fought match with the Dragons clinging on to a 1-0 lead, via a penalty, for much of the game. Princes Park then scored and it was game on at 1-1! The Dragons kept up with the fast and furious pace, forcing PP back, and were rewarded with two slightly odd goals – in both cases opportunism and relentless attacking won through.
The U17 Boys drew 6-6 with Football Samurai away in the League Trophy. A hotly contested Trophy tie that the Dragons will be smarting they didn’t win – and in fact will appeal the draw as the Samurai’s fielded an unregistered player under the referee’s nose that tipped the scales.
