U14B open with a solid draw

Kensington Dragons U14B 2 v 2 Headstone Manor

The Under 14B Dragons had their first match of the season facing the team from Headstone Manor.  It was a hard fought, tight affair with HSM drawing first blood mid way through the first half.  KDFC fought hard even though some of it’s critical members were unavailable to play.  The game was tied as Rocco Polzlbauer spun his defender around and worked a give and go with Jack Ryan over to Jordan Koski. Jordan Koski sends a cross into the middle back to Rocco who ripped a shot across goal that was deflected by the goalie back into play.  Undaunted Rocco followed his own shot and coaxed the ball into the net for a 1-1 tie going into half time.  The second half was characterized by some hard contact doled out by both sides.  As tempers flared the Dragons worked the ball well from back to front.  Captain Will Fox led by example throughout and raised the tempo in the second half both stopping the opposition from his defensive position and following up his pinpoint passing with full field runs in support.  Jimmy Wafa reacted quickly to a cross from Koski with his head for the seemingly winning goal midway through the second half.  A defensive miscue by the Dragons let in the equalizing goal towards the end gifting HSM with a draw. The team played tirelessly and strong throughout.  Dragons parents were out in force and should be acknowledged for their coordinated cheers of support.
