Kensington Dragons U13s 2012-13

U13s shake up almost pays off

Yeading Wanderers 3 vs 2 Kensington Dragons U13s

In preparation for the U13s move to total football philosophy next season, we made a host of positional changes during this game. Right back for example moved to goalie, goalie to centre forward, centre half to midfield, etc etc. Obviously these changes affected the concentration of some of our players including our regular goalie who was caught dreaming of scoring the winning goal as he inexplicably let a soft shot escape his clutches directly into Yeading’s striker who passed the ball into the empty net.

The Dragons were initially struggling to get into any rhythm but as the half wore on our passing started to come together and the equaliser eventually come as our midfielder drove down the left flank and produced a great ball into the box where the chance was converted. However the scores did’nt stay level for long as a Yeading striker broke into our box and slotted the ball away to restore their lead, which they maintained until half time.

The Second half was a bit of a scrappy affair until the last 20 mins. Yeading increased their lead as their striker scrambled the ball into the goal in a fifty/fifty challenge on our goalie, the ref missed the fact he went in studs first. The Dragons responded and started to create and waste clear cut chances. In the closing minutes we won a free kick just outside the area, our midfielder stepped up and Beckham style planted the ball into the right handed side of the goal, to give us hope, but we were unable to grab the equaliser.
