This was yet another mostly good week for the Dragons:
The Firsts had no game as their Round 3 Cup Tie against the Civil Service Reserves was postponed to this coming Saturday.
The Blues beat Kodak 4-2 at home. A decisive 4-2 win against top of the table Kodak. The Dragons controlled the game from beginning to end with a very strong performance all round.
The Old Dragonians beat Old Southall 5-1 away. Back to winning ways for the Old Ds who beat their namesake – albeit a further westward one – convincingly.
The New U10 Boys won 9-1 at Bessingby Park away. From start to finish, the Dragons showed great teamwork, determination, and a positive attitude. Despite many being asked to play in unfamiliar positions, they adapted well. Excellent movement and manipulation of the ball allowed the Dragons to create plenty of goal scoring opportunities. The squad’s chemistry, communication, and confidence on the pitch have come a long way in a short time.
The U11 Boys beat Ealing United 3-2 at home. A last-second volleyed winner from the edge of the area dramatically rescued a deserved win against a strong Ealing side. The Dragons went into half-time 2-0 up, rueing the chance to have stretched our lead, before being pegged back to 2-2 with 15 minutes to go. The Dragons rallied and put the pressure back on, resulting with a last-gasp winner to lob the keeper from the edge of the area. Fantastic scenes at St Mark’s Park.
The U12 Boys beat FC Starz 3-1 at home. After a three-week break, the Dragons showed no signs of rust as they took the lead within five minutes. They doubled their advantage before half-time with confident, attacking play. FC Starz came out strong after the break, closing the gap with a controversial penalty but undeterred, the Dragons kept their composure and struck again to seal the win.
The U13 Boys beat West Drayton 14-1 at home. The Dragons proved far too strong as they chased every after ball in every minute of the game. Their form continues due to this very tenacity.
The U14 Boys Red were awarded at automatic home with against Foxes who could not raise a team.
The U14 Boys White beat Northfields United 4-0 away. The Dragons were back to their winning ways in a truly dominant performance. The Dragons created wave after wave of attacks but only found themselves 2 up at the break which was a poor return for their dominance. The 2nd half was much the same with the Dragons spurning chance after chance. Such was the dominance that the Dragons’ keeper did not make a save in the entire game.
The U15 Boys had no game.
The U16 Boys lost at home to 360 Talent. To win the division Dragons will have to beat 360 away and/or 360 suffer an upset. The joy, or anguish, of a League campaign is that there are always unexpected twists and turns on the way to the end.
The U17 Boys drew 6-6 away at Ruislip Town. Another great result for the Dragons who have now gone three games unbeaten to match the three games without a win at the beginning of season. Again, the lesson is that persistence, hard work and determination do get rewarded. There will no doubt be other tricky spells to navigate but the Dragons have so far proved their mettle.
The U13 Girls were beaten at home to an unbeaten Hinton Revolution in the Cup. Although a difficult game against a strong team, the Dragons stuck to their tasks and were unfortunate not to score late on. The squad is getting stronger and the players will benefit from these experiences.
The U11 Girls, U15 Girls and U16 Girls did not play.
