Happy New Year to Dragons Everywhere

With fan clubs located from New Zealand to the US, there is always a Dragon somewhere celebrating the New Year.
We made great strides in 2025 building at long last our own pitch with the help of hard work; patient, selfless funders & patrons; together with the supportive Council and Trust. The problem with climbing one peak of course is that the next peak becomes visible. Our vision is to work together to create a successful community football club to rise up the FA’s pyramid whilst offering refreshments and shelter to our fans and parents watching their children train – they might also reasonably ask where the nearest WC is!
One challenge we have noticed is the increasing number of young people who have seemingly lost their way – not working nor studying but rather staying indoors, losing touch with friends etc. Now that we have our own pitch, we can think about running football sessions for those who do not want to be professional footballers but would enjoy getting involved with a friendly club – not everybody can be a great footballer, but anybody can enjoy playing in the fresh air and mixing with others.
Despite the inevitable setbacks the Dragons continues to be a lot of worthwhile fun for everybody who makes it what it has become. Whoever said “creating is more interesting than owning” was a wise person. If we all keep working together the wider world will be surprised at what we achieve.
Best wishes
Chris Shirley
