| With the summer holidays nearly over an exciting 2026/7 season lies ahead. We will get the Notting Hill Carnival out of the way this coming weekend and then rapidly crank up for the new season.
Works at the Den: We should be able to start using the changing rooms and WC block fairly soon. Possibly the most exciting development will be the installation of turnstiles. Under FA rules we need two turnstiles to allow the First Team to get promoted. For the more whimsical Dragon there is something magical about the thought of clicking through a turnstile – the Dragons will have arrived! Start of the 2026/7 Season: Most fixtures have not been released but we expect teams to start playing their League and Cup matches on:
Book Tip: As the days get shorter there is time read: “How Steeple Sinderby Wanderers Won the FA Cup” by J.L. Carr. For Dragons of all ages, this is the idiosyncratic tale of an amateur football club from a small community going all the way to the top. It reads like a Roy of the Rovers tale interwoven with social satire. Republished as a ‘classic’ novel for a reason. Reading this will be good preparation for reading the eventual “How Kensington Dragons Won the FA Cup”. Best wishes |
