It’s a tricky time for any correspondent reporting the Results at the start of a new season. What is one to do if they are shocking? Does one delay waiting for better times? There was no dilemma this year as our Senior teams clearly wanted to avoid causing any undue journalistic stress and so banged in an aggregate of 17 goals whilst only conceding 3. Our U18 Girl’s showed similar sensitivity to win away in the wilds of North London:
The Firsts decisively beat Appollo London 4-1 away. Playing away is always difficult at the start of a new season but the Dragons approached the match professionally, settled into a rhythm to come away with a well deserved 3 points.
The Old Ds beat Hillingdon United 7-0 at the Den: Having topped the table last season this Dragons comprehensive victory left them at the pinnacle. The ODs dominated from start to finish, creating chance after chance. They led 3- 0 at half time and scored another 4 on their return. The only disappointment was that they should have scored more – still it’s early days. A fun fact: the ODs last tasted defeat in November 2025 – an incredible 10 months ago!
The Blues beat Feltham 6-2 at the Den and must be one of the favourites for promotion this season. The Dragons lived up to their star billing by putting on a 5-star performance culminating in 6 goals. They did however take the harder route by conceding against the run of play to fall behind but their resolve was such that they upped the ante and went on to pummel the opposition into submission with Feltham saying the game was, for them, a baptism of fire in their first outing of the season.
The U18s Girls beat Regents Park 2-1 away. This was truly a fantastic result for the Dragons who are competing in the U18 league despite being a year younger. With a dead 11 they ventured out to the wilds of Regents Park not knowing what they would encounter but knowing they had trained well to be ready for the challenge. The Dragons started brightly and were on top for most of the first half and scored after 30 minutes. The second half was a battle and, with no substitutes to match those of Regents Park, every Dragon had to stand up to the challenge. They threw themselves into tackles, blocks and headers to hold RP at bay until the 70th minute when they equalised. A good Dragon knows it’s not over untill it’s over and, with the referee signalling 10 seconds left of added time, the Dragons scored to leave with all 3 points.
Works at the Den:
The works continue. It is always surprising how some of the smallest jobs take the most time – such is the way of life. Our aim remains to be fully operational by Christmas.
Referee’s Training Course: We are running a course, under the auspices of the MCFA, at the Den during half term on 26&27 October. Any Dragon over 14 is welcome to apply – simply email Angela at Fixtures@KensingtonDragons.com and she will forward the link to sign up. To qualify as a referee participants will have to attend from 10am to 3pm on the two days and then attend another evening session before refereeing 5 matches with an assessor usually in support.
Best wishes
