U14A’s unlucky to lose at Yeading

Yeading Wanderers 6 v 3 Kensington Dragons U14A

The result on the face of it would seem to have been an easy victory for Yeading but as you will read below the game changed on one incident that is still leaving a bitter taste this morning.

Yeading took an early lead as the Dragons were slow out of the blocks. The Dragons slowly got into gear and equalised as our left midfielder burst into the box and placed the ball past the Yeading keeper. early in the 2nd half we gifted Yeading a goal and then conceded a third. The Dragons clawed their way back into the game firstly with a tap in following a goal mouth scramble and then with the goal of the match as our midefieder picked up a cleareance just outside the box and hit a screamer passed the Yeading keeper to equalise at 3-3.

The Dragons were pressing and our chance came as our striker burst into the area with only the keeper to beat. He nicked the ball past the onrushing keeper who clattered into our striker bring him down. In unison all the players, management and travelling support screamed penalty and looked at the ref expecting to see his hand point to the penalty spot, but no he was playing on. To make matters worse they went up the other end and scored and with our concentration gone we then conceded two late goals.
