At last, we have upgraded our website. It may look a little better but similar to the previous version but, under the IT bonnet, it is now capable of all sorts of further improvements. Back on the pitch the Dragons scored 52 goals against 25 for the combined oppositions:
The Firsts had no game.
The Blues drew 1-1 with AFC Heathrow away. With key players missing, the Blues took 20 mins to adjust during which time they conceded. When they finally got their footballing act together it was all Dragons and a wonder goal from outside the box led to a much-deserved equaliser. As the Dragons upped the intensity they missed countless chances to go ahead and were denied a penalty in the dying embers of the game. In hindsight this was an unlucky result.
The Old Dragonians drew 3-3 to DAR United at home. Another draw for the Old Ds which continues their steady start to this year’s campaign – with only two League games played they have not won, but they have not lost. The Dragons will seek to turn the heat up at home this coming weekend v Southall.
The new U10 Boys had no game.
The U11 Boys won 6-0 at Northfields United away. The Dragons dominated through a fearsome press, never taking their foot off the pedal. It’s great to see the work on the training ground come into effect in matches. This side will go from strength to strength.
The U12 Boys lost 3-7 to Wealdstone at home. It was a tough match for the Dragons. Early on, they conceded two quick goals but fought back scoring 2 beautiful goals to draw level. Then, just before half-time, Wealdstone snatched another. In the second half, the Dragons struggled to regain their rhythm and conceded three more goals, plus a controversial penalty. Despite the setback, they refused to give up and clawed one back late on.
The U13 Boys beat London Athletic 9-2 at home. This was a superb effort from the Dragons from start to finish as everyone played well and gave 100% effort. Even better, the performance showed an understanding of roles in their transition from 9-a-side to 11-a-side. There was a great show of character especially after LA equalised twice, and the newer players look like they’ve been a Dragon from the start.
The U14 Boys Red beat Football Samurai 8-1 away. A huge win on the road for the Dragons that keeps them sparring at the top end of the table in these early stages of the season.
The U14 Boys White beat Pro FA 6-3 at home. Despite the big win this was an average performance from the table topping Whites. Even though they totally dominated possession they were wasteful in front of goal and a 2-1 half time lead was scant reward for their dominance. The second half was a little better as they scored 4 more goals but conceded 2.
The U15 Boys lost to West Drayton 2-5 at home. Despite some superior skills, the Dragons just could not manage to motivate themselves to win.
The U16 Boys beat Brook House 7-1 away. The first half was fairly competitive but after the break the Dragons ran away with the match. Brookhouse never gave up but they were simply no match for the Dragons who are now scoring from all over the pitch.
The U17 Boys narrowly lost 3-5 to Ickenham away. The Dragons put in a massive performance this week straight from kickoff. The game was end to end with the Dragons having most of the possession. They went close so many times but unfortunately this week wasn’t to be theirs – they go again!
The U16 Girls beat Denham 10-0 away in the Middlesex Cup. Despite injuries and illness, the Dragons put Denham to the sword. Slick interplay and an aggressive press saw the Dragons 5 goals to the good at half time. The second half was more of the same but with more intensity and when the 10th goal hit the net the referee sensibly brought proceedings to an end 8 minutes early. A special mention to the Dragons forward who bagged herself 5 goals.
The U11 Girls, U13 Girls and U15 Girls had no game.
