Another week and another Cup!

SAVE the DATE: End of Season Presentations  on Sunday June 14th

The U12 Boys beat St Josephs 5-4 on penalties to win the Harrow Youth League Trophy Cup. What a way to finish the season! The Dragons had to brush off last week’s defeat and renew their positive attitude. They dominated the first half, creating plenty of chances and, despite missing a few key opportunities, were eventually rewarded with what could only be described as one of the goals of the season. St Joseph’s came out stronger in the second half, but the Dragons continued to battle. With just 10 minutes to go, a fumble in the Dragons box allowed St Joseph’s to equalise, taking the game to the dreaded penalty shoot-out. A nail-biting finish saw both teams take six penalties each, with the Dragons holding their nerve to lift the Cup.

The Blues lost 4-8 away at FH Whistlers. In a huge final game of the season, the Blues took to the pitch knowing that a win would secure promotion. They had, however, the League Champions to play who had already beaten the Dragons back in November. Despite a rocky start, the Dragons battled back and managed to reel in FHWs lead to square the game at 2-2 by half time. In the second period, chances increased as the game opened up: shots were taken from distance, loose balls popped around the box and deflections beat everyone. Amazingly, the Dragons took the initiative after a smart tactical change and went ahead 4-3 for the first time. Then, in a flash of anger at a challenge, the Dragons were reduced to 10 men and FHW came forward in wave after wave. Despite giving so much, the Dragons couldn’t withstand the onslaught.

The U15 Girls played Boreham Wood at the Den in a friendly. This was  a “friendly” in the best sense of the term. BW were good enough to drive down to the beating heart of the Dragons from the far distant Boreham Wood which the average Dragons barely knew of. With the Dragons season over some players had made other arrangements for the weekend so they were reduced to a bare 11 players. That would have been fine had not one of the Dragons stars be injured early on resulting in her being whisked off to A&E. The resolute brave Dragons carried on with 10 players against the accomplished BW full team of 11. BH won – but the Dragons kept going right to the final whistle.

The U11 boys played a friendly without incidentAll other Seniors, Youth Boys and Youth Girls teams had no scheduled games.
