| The Seniors really are having a tremendous season as they sprint towards the finish line closely followed at the opposite end our diminutive Under 10s who are matching the Seniors win for win:
On Wednesday, the Firsts beat Hilltop 5-2 away. A good win in a midweek local derby where the score line doesn’t quite reflect the quality and hard-working nature of the Dragons’ game. They know it is time to keep up the momentum in the business end of the season. On Saturday, the Firsts beat Indian Gymkhana 2-0 away. Another hard-fought win in a tricky fixture when the pressure was on the Dragons to win. The Blues beat Kodak 4-3 away. This was a must win game for the Blues who battled with only 10 men with players falling to illness and injury. Dragons recently beat Kodak in the Cup Final on penalties so it was not surprising that they wanted revenge and included first team players in their squad. The Dragons did tremendously well to go up 3-1 up in the first half. Kodak stepped up and brought it back to a nail-biting 3-3. Then, in the last minute, the Dragons scored an almighty, beautiful winner. The Old Dragonians beat Chiswick Celtic 7-2 away. A resounding Dragons win keeps them flying high at the top of the table – albeit with an eye on Dar United who are chasing with a couple games in hand. Nevertheless, the Dragons know that from here they can only control the controllables and need to keep to be in with the best chance of retaining the top spot. The U10 Boys beat Pro FA 3-1 at home. The Dragons’ coaching team were full of plaudits for their squad on Sunday. The Dragons showed real character and didn’t crack when the score hung in the balance at 1-1. The resilient young Dragons came back fighting to secure the win to the delight of their fans. The U11 Boys beat Northwood 4-1 at home. A hard-fought, tight game went down to the wire before a flurry of late Dragons goals took the game away from Northwood. After going into half-time 0-0, Dragons took the lead only to be pegged back by a great solo goal. Straight from the restart the Dragons executed a well thought out routine to wrestle control – and the lead – back. Two late goals saw the game out. The U12 Boys beat St Josephs 3-2 away in the League Trophy. The Dragons looked a little sluggish after the Easter break, as if the chocolate hadn’t quite worn off. From the first whistle, they struggled to find their rhythm and were second best in most areas of the pitch. St Joseph’s took full advantage and opened the scoring, catching everyone off guard. The goal finally sparked the Dragons into life. With just 10 minutes remaining, the Dragons were 1-2 down and had to dig deep to secure two late goals and seal a hard-earned victory in what proved to be a far more challenging match than expected. The U13 Boys lost to Wealdstone 1-5 away. The Dragons unfortunately collapsed in the second half, disjointed and disappointed. Nevertheless, they now play the same team in a playoff match for the League title and know they must improve their game. The U14 Boys Red and White had no games. The U15 Boys had no game. The U16 Boys lost 1-3 away to Pro FA. There was just the tinge of rather a lackluster approach to this match which, as the last for the season, was not going to have any meaningful impact on the Dragons league position. Pro FA were probably just the better side but in reality, either side could have won. The U17 Boys lost 0-4 to Pinnstars away. A game that the Dragons should have won – and did during the League campaign – however this time round it was Pinnstars that finished clinically to win.. There were no scheduled Youth Girls games. |
